Online PAR® tasting with sharply increased participation and international variety among the top winners. Top subject: quality management in times of climate crisis.

Frasdorf, May 2021 – agility and reliability are the traits that are undoubtedly responsible for the sharply increased participation in the spring tasting edition, May 07th-10th, of the 13th international organic wine award under the umbrella of WINE System AG.  The flexible response of the Executive Board Members Brigitte Wüstinger and Martin Darting, supported by their whole crew, to the pandemic requirements at the beginning of 2020 provided solid results delivered by the PAR®-Jury yet again in the virtual tasting get-together where they could qualitatively assess more than 800 wines from 21 different countries. Thus, 28 PAR® Certified Masters could award 69 Top Gold, 341 Gold, 351 Silver and 44 compliments.

Medals with Value Added: the international organic wine award – Spring Edition 2021

Transparent and verifiable tasting and assessment of organic wines from all over the world by PAR®-Jury – May 07th – 10th

Frasdorf, January 2021 – It is unclear at this time whether the spring edition of the international organic wine award 2021 will be held in analogue format or, as in the previous year, in the virtual room. What is clear, however, is that the highly qualified PAR®-Jury and well established digital structure delivered by WINE System AG will doubtfully guarantee the key elements: objectivity, transparency and verifiability. Organic producers from all over the world can rely on the in-depth analysis and assessment during the 13th edition of the prestigious contest. Also this year, the international organic wine award will launch Spring and Autumn editions in order to provide producers and submitted wines with more flexibility in terms of ageing and potential to evolve. Participants in both editions of the PAR® award will receive a 20% discount on the submission fee for the Autumn edition. The registration has already started. Deadline is April 16th, 2021.

Frasdorf, October 2020 – Likewise in spring 2020, the autumn edition of the international organic wine award took place from October 16th until October 18th in virtual space and strictly complying with PAR®-Standards *). The experience of 26 PAR® Certified Master Tasters based in Germany and Spain and supported by the established digital infrastructure of WINE System AG secured the usual quality and the transparency of the results earning the trust of the organic wine producers from all over the world. The PAR®-Jury has tasted 474 wines from 19 countries awarding 40 Top Gold, 212 Gold, 190 Silver and 25 Compliments.

PAR®-Jury Tasting October 16th – 18th, 2020

Frasdorf, June 2020 – following a successful Spring Edition taken place in May 2020, WINE System AG opened the registration for the Autumn sequel of the 12th international organic wine award. The first-time split of the prestigious contest is a response to the continually increasing attendance contributing to quality assurance and user-friendliness. For safety reasons, and due to the uncertainty regarding pandemic development, the autumn tasting will also take place in the virtual room – a challenge that could be easily coped with last May thanks to the experience of the PAR® Certified Master Tasters and the established digital infrastructure. The competition is open to the organically certified white, red and rosé wines, as well as dessert, sweet, sparkling, pearl wines and specialities. Registration deadline is September 25th, 2020.

The Worldwide First PAR® Tasting in Virtual Space: international organic wine award – the Spring Edition 2020 with 648 Wines from 18 Countries

Frasdorf, May 2020 – Likewise with the current daily life situation, also the first edition of this year tasting took place under the influence of the Coronavirus pandemic, ran by 28 tasters spread throughout Germany in virtual space and strictly complying with PAR® standards. The experience of PAR® Certified Master Tasters and the established digital infrastructure of WINE System AG was strong support to manage the organisational challenge to prepare the high-quality contest that earned the trust of winemakers from all over the world. The jury assessed 648 wines from 18 different countries and awarded 58 Top Gold, 307 Gold, 249 Silver and 28 Compliments.

Unprecedented: two dégustation editions of the international organic wine award in spring and autumn 2020

PAR®-Jury will run the tastings from the 08th of May until the 10th of May, as well as from the 16th of October until the 18th of October 2020

Frasdorf, January 2020 – Since the number of submitted wines has been continuously exceeding 1000 products during the last years, Wine System AG together with Head of PAR® tasting Martin Darting decided to launch two editions of this prestigious contest in 2020. The reasons for this decision are quality management and high time investment and staff involvement required by the PAR® method, as well as the intention to make this event more customer-friendly following numerous requests for an alternative date. To provide a high quality of the competition that is especially valued for its transparent assessment, the qualified auditors will operate in groups of three to offer an individual assessment of each wine according to PAR® system. The competition is open to the organically certified white, red and rosé wines, as well as dessert, sweet, sparkling, pearl wines and specialities. Registration deadline is the 24th of April and the 25th of September 2020.

A recognised brand celebrates its anniversary: PAR®-tasting of more than 1100 wines from 27 countries during the 10th grand international organic wine award.

Germany, Italy and Austria represent the majority of participants - maximum score for Greece and Switzerland

Frasdorf, July 2019 – Full of excitement, the crew consisting of certified PAR® tasters, as well as oenologists and sommeliers approached their working station on the much-anticipated first day of tasting. In total, 1103 organic wines from 27 different countries were submitted for the evaluation - many of them coming from the 2018 extreme heat vintage. As in previous years, also the 10th grand international organic wine award showed stylistic spectrum performance. It’s a frequent practice of the PAR®-system to build teams of three jury members to address this challenge. In total, 68 wines received Top Gold, 517 nominees took Gold, 439 products were awarded Silver. The absolute front-runners, with 99 points each, were the barrique matured 2014 Pinot Noir Terrasse Elfingen from vineyard NIRO, the Swiss canton of Aargau, and 2018 VIDIANO - a wooden-barrel matured white- produced at Domaine Zacharioudakis on the Isle of Crete.
Furthermore, produce from Germany, Italy, Austria as well as wines from Spain, France, Hungary, South Africa and China were rated with Top Gold. The Awarding Ceremony will take place on the 26th of July during the Vino Alpi 2019 event in Klagenfurt, Austria. PAR® tasting from the 28th of June until 01st of July 2019 – registration deadline is the 07th of June 2019

Frasdorf, March 2019 – At the start, there were a total of 267 organically made wines from 10 countries submitted for the debut edition of this cross-national quality competition according to the back then innovative PAR® method to provide a clear result report to wine-growers. The enormous response and request were the reasons to repeat the contest same year again.  In June 2019, the significantly extended PAR crew will join the table for the 10th time forecasting more than 1000 organic wines from all over the world. Twenty-eight participating countries represented a wide range of stylistic features during the last year event. Also this year, the qualified tasters will work in groups of three to assess each wine individually according to PAR®. The competition is open to the organically certified white, red and rosé wines, as well as dessert, sweet, sparkling, pearl wines and specialities. Registration deadline is the 07th of June 2019. The winners will be honoured on the 26th of July during the "Vino Alpi 2019" Organic Wine Festival in Klagenfurt, Austria.

Frasdorf, 12. July 2018 – The 09th edition of international organic wine award, that is known to be the leading contest for the organically made wines, took place from the 29th of June until the 2nd of July showing a high level of the international attendance. The unique variety of participating countries represented by 289 wine-growing estates compassing more than 1000 products from 28 nations made it possible to achieve an excellent pertinence for the submitted qualities in the most significant cultivation areas in the world of wine. Newcomers of this year were wines from Belgium,  Liechtenstein, Luxembourg and Malta.

This tasting once again took place under the leadership of sensor expert Martin Darting. Initiated and organised by WINE System AG, 38 qualified auditors tasted each of the submitted organic wines and ran the sensory assessment based on its ingredients following the PAR®-standards working in a team of three people. Along with Germany, Italy, Austria and Spain, China again belonged to the most represented winegrowing nations. 52 nominees – who represent 4,8% - were decorated with „Top Gold“ (96 – 100 points).

Start for the 9th edition of the international organic wine award

PAR®- tasting from the 29th of June until the 2nd of July 2018 – Registration deadline – 8th of June 2018

Frasdorf, January 2018 – In June 2018, WINE System AG will launch the 9th edition of the international organic wine award, one of the major competitions in the sector. 2017, the annually expanding dègustation carried out by the well-known PAR jury under the guidance of Martin Darting, operated nearly 1100 wines covering 25 countries. Also this year, several task force teams out of three qualified tasters built to ensure high quality of the objective and replicable tasting will get down to work independently assessing each wine and following the internationally acknowledged PAR method. The competition is open to all certified organic white, red and rosé wines as well as dessert, sweet, sparkling, semi-sparkling wines and specials. The registration deadline is the 08th of June 2018.

Organic wine is an increasing segment in the wine production worldwide. More and more wineries are following the trend to have a lower impact on the environment. In some cases because they are convinced about the need to protect the nature for future generations, in other cases following the market demand.

在全球葡萄酒酿造领域,有机葡萄酒的酿造正在增涨。越来越多的酒庄在遵循对环境造成更低的影响这一趋势。这是因为,一方面他们确信这是为了后代而保护大自然,另一方面也是为了跟上市场的需求。

Two weeks ago, the biggest international competition for organic wine “Bioweinpreis” by PAR took place. Although 2016 was a difficult year for the organic wine producers in Europe, due to climatic conditions, the number of samples entered to the “Bioweinpreis” increased. 1094 samples from 25 countries entered the competition this year. 49 entries came from China, more than double as in 2016. This amazing growth in numbers guided us to interview Mr. Shuyao Qin, General Secretary of the China National Association for Liquor and Spirits Circulation:

International organic wine award 2017 set a new attendance record:

PAR®-Jury tasted 1094 wines from 25 countries
Global diversity at the top – highest rated wines from Italy, Spain, Austria and South Africa – 100 points award achievement for the first time in the history of the competition

Frasdorf, July 2017 – Eighth round of one of the most significant organic wine competitions worldwide took place from the 30th of June till the 3rd of July and brought repeated record attendance, the first 100-point rating and never seen before country diversity. Wines from Israel, Denmark and Canada enhanced the tasting headed by sensor expert Martin Darting. Initiated and organised by WINE System AG, quality specialists, working in groups of three, have tasted 1094 submitted organic wines in compliance with PAR®-standards parsing their components and assessing them in a sensory way. Germany, Italy, Austria and Spain, followed by China, were among the most represented wine countries. In total, 48 submitted wines were awarded Top Gold (96 till 100 points), 372 ones received Gold (90 till 95 points), and 520 products were Silver-winning (83 till 89 points).
